Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Jiyoung Kim (ABN 70 356 022 140) (“we”, “us”, “our”), operating Sumzup at sumz-up.com, handles personal information. We are based in New South Wales, Australia and aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account.
• Payment information. Paid plans are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card details — Stripe does. We store a Stripe customer reference, your plan tier and subscription status, and the email associated with the purchase.
• Requests you submit. If you request a digest of a video or contact us, we receive the URL, your email and any message you provide.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email is stored by our email provider (Buttondown) to send the digests you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Usage analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not use cookies or collect personal information — it gives us aggregate page-view statistics only.
• On-device preferences. Settings such as language, voice and layout are stored in your browser’s local storage and stay on your device; we do not receive them.

2. How we use information

• to provide, maintain and secure the Service and your account;
• to process payments and manage subscriptions;
• to fulfil digest requests and respond to your enquiries;
• to send the newsletter or notifications you opted into;
• to understand aggregate usage and improve the product;
• to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. Service providers

We share personal information with trusted providers only as needed to run the Service, each under their own privacy terms: Google (sign-in), Supabase (account and database hosting), Stripe (payments), Buttondown (newsletter email), Netlify (website hosting and form submissions), and Cloudflare (privacy-first analytics). We do not sell your personal information.

4. International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside Australia (for example, in the United States). Where information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this policy and applicable law.

5. Cookies

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your signed-in session is kept in your browser’s local storage to keep you logged in. Our analytics are cookieless.

6. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law — for example, account information while your account is active, and payment records as required for tax and accounting.

7. Your rights

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to delete your account and associated personal information, subject to records we must retain by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and reputable hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be notified where appropriate.
